Chitra brings together in one complete volume some of the most significant features of the french view of the eighteenth century through drawings and sketches of the city landcapes and monuments.



Review 1: While Dr Lafont's introduction is excellent, this short book is less a systematic study of its subject than a sample of what is available in French collections. It is also a well-informed guide to their location. As such it will prove useful to military and urban historians looking beyond Indian or British sources for visual material.
