The study explores the larger strategic and geo-political consequences of defense cooperation. It traces the growth in the importance of defence cooperation and looks at is conceptual and theoretical premises, as related to Indian foreign policy thus far. A further section deals with the limitations and prospects of defence cooperation for India in the near future. The study also explores the genera] direction in which India's foreign polity is headed and the role defence cooperation has to play in that wider arena.
