This book examines the determinants of the various factors that Help to generate marketed surplus. Though studies relating to such issues have received adequate amount of attention mostly for agriculturally developed states of India, very few studies have been conducted for less developed Regions whose Economy are totally dependent on agriculture. In that respect the book has made an in-depth Study not only to identify but also to trace the relative weight age of the various factors that determine such surplus. The book has also made a detailed study of the factors according to the size of land holdings, since factors which are crucial for owners of Large sized holdings may not be the same for small and Marginal ones.
Author Bio: Keya Sengupta is presently Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Shilong and formerly was the Dean, School of Social Sciences and also the Head, Department of Economics at Assam Central University. Prof. Sengupta is engaged in teaching of Economics and Research for over thirty years. She has authored and also edited many books and published several research papers in journals of repute including Artha Vijnana, Man and Development, Finance Indian etc. She has also presented a good number of papers in national and international seminars and delivered lectures in many universities. Prof. Sengupta has also completed major Research Projects of UGC, ICSSR and UNDP and also undertaken Research Consultancy of CII and Planning Comission. Recentrly, she was selected for the Indo French Social Scientist Exchange Programme and was invited by Foundation Maison des Sciences de I'Hommes, Paris, France. She has also visited Belgium, Holland, Germany, Scotland and England in connection with various types of academic work.
