The book deals with the massive population displacement in the poor, mineral rich state of Orissa, the intensity of which has increased in the post-liberalization era. It has critically examined the R & R policies of various projects, protests and consequent agitations against involuntary displacements and resettlements by the mega public sector projects including industries and dams in the pre-reform era, and by the private sector big business industrial houses including multinationals for their plants and SEZs in the post- liberalization era. The book also analyses the occupational displacement of the forest dwellers and the fishers in Orissa - a direct impact of liberalization and privatization. At the end, it comes with suggestions for proper and suitable measures.
