Analytical chemistry deals with the development and use of scientific techniques for chemical measurement. These techniques are used in analyzing the chemical composition of substances. Chemical analysis may be qualitative or quantitative. The roots of analytical chemistry and some of the principles used in modern instrument are from traditional techniques many of which are still used today. Analytical chemistry has been an indispensable area in the development of nanotechnology. Surface characterization instruments, electron microscopes and scanning probe microscopes enables scientists to visualize atomic structures with chemical characterizations.
